Our objective is to make safety a way of life for our teammates not only while at work, but throughout their everyday lives. It is everyone’s responsibility and our greatest responsibility. You will see this in many aspects of our culture, from the daily Job Hazard Analysis that takes place every day on every job site to our Gold Shovel Certification. No vehicle leaves our equipment yard without an extensive Gate Check to ensure the crew will travel safe wherever they are headed.
Motor Vehicle Safety
Given our extensive fleet of vehicles and equipment, we recognize that minimizing automotive incidents keeps our employees safe. We continuously evaluate methods to reduce miles driven, reduce distracted driving as well as ways to proactively improve safety outcomes while operating all pieces of equipment for our employees. Through the implementation of Samsara, a telematics system, we are proactively creating safe driving habits leading to the prevention and reduction of automotive incidents. These efforts, paired with the widespread use of dash cams emphasize our commitment to vehicle safety. These efforts are evidenced by a lower frequency of preventable incidents as compared to our industry average.
We strongly believe in the stewardship of our natural environment, and that it is our responsibility to protect and preserve it for generations to come. This is why we provide solutions that accelerate the reduction of methane and carbon emissions while enabling more sustainable processes for delivering essential utilities to our communities.
Early Adopter of Innovative Technology: Hydro excavation and Cross Compression
Throughout the history of SEC, we have innovated and found new ways to meet customer needs. Over the past several years, our focus has been on environmentally friendly ways of working. We were one of the first contractors of our size and scope to implement two innovative technologies that protect the environment and keep our communities safer.
Hydro excavating solutions provided by Hydro-X utilize various soft dig techniques to minimize the potential for pipeline dig-in damages. Importantly, these techniques also work to minimize environmental impact by mitigating against the use of carbon intensive equipment and material while also protecting communities and sensitive environments against unnecessary disruption. Cross compression is a process by which natural gas is compressed and recycled back into the pipeline as an alternative to venting, flaring, or blowdown during pipeline maintenance, repairs, and installation. SEC was an early adopter of this technology and now regularly works with Versiv Solutions to play a key role in not only mitigating methane emissions, but also minimizes community impact in repairing pipelines. Helping Our People Grow: Scholarship Program
Southeast Connections is proud to offer the Bobby Daniel Memorial Scholarship. Created in memory of a long-time employee, the scholarship is an annual award to a graduating high school senior and dependent of a Hydro-X or SEC employee, or a current employee, pursing educational goals. The scholarship supports a student with financial need who displays academic growth and a desire to pursue a career that is trade/vocational in focus and is awarded each year.
Giving Back to Our Communities
We are committed to giving back to the communities where we live in work. SEC often partners with our customers to support charitable causes. We regularly participate in Toy Drives during the holiday season, charity events, and more.
